About the percentage calculator
The percentage calculator answers the three percentage questions that come up most in daily life: what is a percent of a number, what percent one number is of another, and how much a value changed between two figures. Enter your numbers and the result appears right away, so you can check a tip, a discount, a test score, or a month over month change without opening a spreadsheet.
It runs entirely in your browser, needs no sign-up, and keeps no record of the numbers you enter. Use it on your phone or your desktop, whichever is closer.
How to use
- Choose the calculation you need: percent of a number, what percent one value is of another, or percent change.
- Enter the two values in the labelled fields. Whole numbers and decimals both work.
- Select Calculate to see the result below the inputs.
- Adjust either value to compare scenarios, or copy the result to reuse it elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I find a percent of a number?
- Use the percent-of calculation, enter the percent and the number, then select Calculate. For example, 20 percent of 80 is 16.
- How is percent change calculated?
- Subtract the starting value from the ending value, divide by the starting value, then multiply by 100. The calculator does each step for you.
- What is the difference between percent change and percentage points?
- Percent change compares two values in relative terms, while percentage points measure the gap between two percentages. This tool reports percent change.
- Can I enter decimals?
- Yes. Both input fields accept whole numbers and decimals, so values like 12.5 work fine.
- Is the percentage calculator free?
- Yes. It is free to use and does not require an account.
- Are the numbers I enter stored anywhere?
- No. Calculations happen in your browser, and the values are not saved or sent to a server.
- Does it work on mobile?
- Yes. The calculator is built to work on phones and desktops.
